Canadian Mustangs

Canadian squadrons that were part of the RAF in World War II were among the first to use the Mustang since No 412 (Canadian) squadron was equipped with Mustangs Mk I when they participated in the Dieppe landing in August 1942. However, by the end of the war, all of these squadrons had been re-equipped with Spitifres. In 1947 the Royal Canadian Air Force acquired 130 surplus Mustangs from the USAF and used them, under the designation Mustang Mk IV, until 1956.
