Chinese Mustangs

After receiving roughly one hundred P-51Ds from the USAAF in 1945, the government of Nationalist China bought, after V-J Day, almost the totality of American P-51 stocks in South-East Asia. This included the P-51B and D of the 14th Air Force. Large numbers of these aircraft were used during the civil war and some fled to Taïwan in 1949 where they were incorporated in Tchang Kai-Chek's newly-created Nationalist China air force. As for the Mustangs captured by Communist forces, they were briefly used by communist China's air force.

This P-51C belonged to the 23rd FG and was later transferred to the Chinese Air Force.
