The Aeronautica Militare Italiana (AMI) received 173 P-51D from the US via the MAP program, which it used in five Stormi (3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 61st Stormi). From 1948 to 1953, only 48 F-51Ds remained in service, the last models being given away to Somalia which used them until the 1960s.
