Salvadoran Mustangs

The Fuerza Aérea Salvadoreña (FAS) was the last Mustang user in Latin America. In 1969, in replacement of its F4U Corsairs, El Salvador bought five Cavalier Mustang II and one TF-51D, and later another eleven F-51D. All of these aircraft were used in the so-called "Soccer War" in July of that year. Several machines having been lost during that short conflict, the FAS only owned ten Mustangs which it replaced with MD 450 Ouragans and F-86 Sabres, the last Mustang being sold in 1975.
